I was very sad to read that Zak Shumate will be leaving Ernie Haase & Signature Sound to accept a position with the Isaacs. He wrote on his twitter:
I have mixed emotions to announce Mar.3rd will be my last show w/ Ernie Haase & Signature Sound. An amazing 3 years w/ some incredible guys! I’m excited & honored to be joining
@IsaacsMusic! Check out http://www.isaacsmusic.com for concert schedules! Excited about the future!
This really is a great, great opportunity for Zak. Still, he was my favorite EHSS band member! What will they do without their Animal? Now they are short both a guitarist (Kelly Vaughn) and a drummer. They’ve been known for being one of the few southern gospel artists on the road who uses live music, but now it looks like it’s down to Wayne and David Griffith.
But hey, the Cathedrals managed okay with just piano and bass guitar… right?
and the CATS WERE and still are the BEST
Love the old clip of the Cathedrals! Mark with his dark hair, Gerald with chubby cheeks, and Danny hitting all the high notes! The years go by so fast!!
I enjoy your email newsletters…….thanks for writing them!!
Are you talking about getting my blog posts by subscription, or were you switching to address the E-team in appreciation of their newsletters? Either way, one of us appreciates your readership.
This reply was to the email newsletter with the story about Zak Shumate leaving EH SS. Video clip referred to was below that story.
Come to think of it………I haven’t received an email from you for a while.??
Is the email newsletter from Southern Gospel Yankee still being sent? Maybe it’s periodical, and not weekly —just random.?
Hi Bobbie! I post fresh material every week, so if you subscribed to receive updates, and you’re getting them less often than that, something must not be right. I recommend checking the blog frequently to make sure you’re not missing anything if there’s some bug in the subscription mechanism. Any other subscribers experiencing Bobbie’s issues?
Zach was a fun, fun drummer to listen to and to watch, and EHSS fans will miss him a lot. Good luck to him as he moves to the Isaacs!
I would like to think that there is somewhere a well of talented live instrumentalists from which EHSS can draw in seeking a replacement. I hope they do continue to have a live band.
oh no will miss him but Isaacs are a good fit.
Zak was a great addition to EHSS but at least he’s staying within the larger SG family. A group like EHSS will have no problem attracting the high caliber band members required for their ministry.
I was priviledged to watch Zak Shumate perform with the Isaacs last evening in Lexington, KY. He was amazing! Really enjoyed him and the group as well!
I saw Zak at the Perrys’ benefit concert, and he looked really happy! Ben Isaacs is going to be a great musical mentor for him.
